A Local School Celebrates Its 100th Birthday

Many people have never heard of Berkeley Hall School on Mulholland Drive. It was the dream of a Los Angeles woman 100 years ago, and it has withstood the test of time.

On Friday morning, Berkeley Hall School will celebrate 100 years of providing education to children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Tuition at this private school on Mulholland Drive ranges from $17,000 to $22,000 per year, although the school claims many students receive financial aid.

Lela Cooper, the Los Angeles woman who founded Berkeley Hall 100 years ago, dreamed of creating a school where she said "every child could fulfill their God-given potential."

"This school stresses diversity and quality," says Susan Colby of the Berkeley staff.
