UPDATED: Sherman Files Complaint Alleging Berman Consultant's Super PAC Involvement

Rep. Brad Sherman's campaign has asked the FEC to investigate the role of Howard Berman's former campaign manager with a pro-Berman super PAC.

In the midst of their political battle for the 30th Congressional District, Congressman Brad Sherman has filed a complaint alleging possible campaign rules violations in the camp of Congressman Howard Berman.

Sherman's campaign said Monday that Berman's former consultant and campaign manager Jerry Seedborg may have coordinated with a super PAC in support of Berman's candidacy.

Federal Elections Committee guidelines prohibit coordination between super PAC's and campaigns.

Brandon Hall, senior adviser to Berman's campaign, released the following statement in response to the allegations:

"Jerry Seedborg and our campaign formally parted ways months ago. This allegation is focused on Seedborg’s actions after our campaign severed ties with him. We have absolutely no coordination with any independent committee. Furthermore, we have confidence in the FEC and trust they will arrive at the same conclusion.

Given Sherman’s lacking record, it’s clear that he is relying on these gimmicks to distract voters from the simple truth the Howard Berman is a much more effective Congressman."
