Complaints About Helicopter Noise

Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council Calls for End to Helicopter Media Coverage of 405 Freeway Closure

(Sherman Oaks) Jill Banks Barad, President of the Sherman Oaks
Neighborhood Council, said today the Neighborhood Council is calling for an immediate end to the constant helicopter media coverage of the 405 freeway closure.

“I can understand covering the story for the 11 p.m. news, but it is not breaking news at 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.,” said Barad. The Neighborhood Council has received many complaints from numerous residents who live in the affected area saying that they were awakened numerous times in the middle of the night by low-flying news helicopters.

Barad continued, “This is clearly an unanticipated consequence nobody
thought about amidst all the concern about traffic congestion. To have helicopters over our homes all night long is just intrusive”.

The Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council is the elected body representing the Sherman Oaks stakeholders to make government more responsive to the community.
