Sherman Oaks Man Killed on Freeway

Crash takes life of motorcyclist Gerald Johnson, 56, marking one of the new year's first freeway fatalities.

The Los Angeles County coroner Monday released the name of the motorcycle rider who became one of the first people to die on a Los Angeles County freeway this new year.

Christopher Gerard Johnson, 56, of Sherman Oaks, crashed into the center divider on the transition road from the westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway to the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, and was declared dead at the scene, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
