The more seriously injured may have suffered a severed hand.

One person suffered major injuries in a rollover crash involving multiple vehicles on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway today that temporarily shut down several lanes, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash -- which involved at least two vehicles -- took place just before 2 p.m. on the westbound 101 Freeway near the Van Nuys Boulevard exit, according to CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

It blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes for an hour, Kimball said.
