Driver Tries to Ram CHP Cruisers Shot by Officers

The incident involved a CHP officer and a couple. The male is still at large.

A driver who allegedly attempted to ram California Highway Patrol officers with the vehicle he was driving was shot by the officers.

CHP Officer Tony Polizzi said the officers fired at the suspect, who was driving a white Mercedes Benz, after he tried to ram them with the vehicle.

The officer-involved shooting occurred after a short vehicle pursuit.

The officers had initially attempted to pull over the driverfor failure to yield, on Coldwater Canyon Avenue, just north of the Ventura (101) Freeway, according to Polizzi.

The shooting occurred in the area of Coldwater Canyon and Riverside Drive at around 11 p.m., according to Polizzi.

A female passenger in the vehicle was detained, Polizzi said, and a perimeter had been established to locate the male suspect.
