Monday Night Expect 405 Closure—Again

It will be closed after Coldwater Canyon opens for the night.

A major nighttime freeway closure is expected on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Sepulveda Pass Monday, Caltrans officials said today.

Southbound 405 traffic from the San Fernando Valley into the Westside will be diverted Monday night, as major work is done to build the second half of the Mulholland Drive bridge. Metro officials said.

Onramps and transition roads to the southbound 405 in the south end of the Valley will start closing at 7 p.m. Monday. Freeway lanes will begin to shut down at 10 p.m., and all 405 southbound traffic will be blocked at the Ventura (101) Freeway as of midnight Monday night.

The freeway is to reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, but the entire project may be postponed if heavy rains develop, as is possible according to some forecasts.

Southbound "old" Sepulveda Boulevard will be kept open for traffic, Metro officials said.
