Mariah Carey's Brother-in-Law Arrested in Studio City on Suspicion of Robbery, Assault

Gabriel Cannon, a brother of actor Nick Cannon and brother-in-law of singer-actress Mariah Carey, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a father and son in a reality-show business dispute in Studio City.

The dispute began about 6 p.m. at Ventura Boulevard and Colfax Avenue,
said Los Angeles police Sgt. William Mann of North Hollywood Station.

Another suspect was also in custody and being questioned, Mann said.

TV station KCAL reported that victims Alex and Alejo Moreno were meeting with the suspects at the ICU Network production company when the men allegedly robbed them, beat them and took their jewelry.

Officers confirmed that camera equipment and a piece of jewelry was
stolen, but the motive for the robbery was under investigation, Mann said.

KCAL said the Morenos were working on a reality show for the past year
with the suspects.

"My dad goes around the front and he sees them taking our cameras out
through the front,'' Alejo Moreno told KCAL. "They took both of our cameras,
the ones we work with every day.''

Alex Moreno told KCAL, "They robbed us and beat us. They were all in
the building. They tried taking our jewelry, they took my platinum cross, they
tried ripping my watch off, [and] our diamond earrings.''

The suspects were taken into custody in Studio City but have not been
booked, Mann said.
