Man Reportedly Set on Fire During Street Attack

The incident occurrs Monday morning about 6:30 a.m. near the corner of Calvert Street and Ranchito Avenue.

Police reported that a man was attacked on the street in Van Nuys Monday and set on fire after having lighter fluid squirted on him, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

The incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. near the corner of Calvert Street and Ranchito Avenue. Police have identified no suspects or motivation in the attack, according to the report, but it may have occurred during a robbery.

The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered burns to his neck and hands but should recover, police said.

The assault happened about two miles from where a homeless woman was set on fire in Van Nuys in December. The woman survived, but was badly burned, and a suspect was arrested.
