Suspect Held in Sherman Oaks Shooting Incident

Police arrest a suspect and recover a 'significant' amount of marijuana; no injuries reported.

Los Angeles police arrested a suspect in a shooting early Sunday in Sherman Oaks.

Sgt. Don Muniz of the Van Nuys station said officers responding at 2:15 a.m. to a call of shots being fired in the 13500 block of Rye Street arrested a suspect and recovered a gun and a "significant'' amount of marijuana.

"We know there were shots fired. We don't know if anyone was hit,'' Muniz said.

"Not all victims want to come forward," he said. "If [a victim] was shot, he would be in the hospital. But no one has called us.''

Muniz said the suspect, whose name was withheld, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
