Daytime Burglary Concerns Residents of Vista Oaks

Someone entered a home and stole valuables during a crime committed when the resident left the house for a brief time.

Residents in the Vista Oaks area of North Sherman Oaks report that  a midmorning burglary occured Thursday on the 5800 block of Willis Avenue.

Items stolen include computers, cash, and jewelry. The Vista Oaks neighborhood watch  is advising people who go out during the day-even for a short walk around the block- to make sure their doors and windows are locked during the daytime hours.

The burglary occured between 10 and 11 A.M., the victim believes the burglar entered the residence through a window in the back of the house.

"The window may have been unlocked,"said the person who was burglarized.

"Not sure if this is related," said Neighborhood Watch Captain Kristin Sales, "but this same household held a yard sale last weekend."

"If anyone has any information about this burglary, or if you were in the area of Willis Avenue at the time of the crime and saw something suspicious, please let us know," said a statment from the Vista Oaks Neighborhood Watch.
