Van Nuys Porn Star Sentenced For Exposing Others to Syphillis

An adult film actor was sentenced today to 30 days in jail after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of exposing another to a communicable disease.

Jesse Spencer -- who works under the name "Mr. Marcus" -- also was ordered to perform 15 days of community labor and serve three years on probation.

Spencer, 42, received a penicillin shot last July 13 after testing positive for syphilis, continued to test positive eight days later and altered a form by obscuring the syphilis result on a photocopy, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.Spencer subsequently participated in two adult movie shoots last July 24 and July 26 in which he engaged in various sex acts while continuing to test positive for the sexually transmitted infection, according to the City Attorney's Office.

Two actresses who worked with him made a police report after a producer noticed that the results on the form had been altered, prosecutors said.None of the actresses contacted syphilis.

"The potential spread of syphilis and other communicable diseases is a serious threat to our entire community," said City Attorney Carmen Trutanich. "My office will continue to hold accountable those who place the health and welfare of others in danger in such a reckless and thoughtless manner."
