City Council Orders Review of Chabad House, Voids Previous Approval

The 12,000-square-foot Chabad House in Sherman Oaks is in jeopardy after Tuesday's City Council ruling.

Los Angeles City Council Tuesday ordered a new review of the Chabad House in Sherman Oaks, choosing to void its earlier approval of the project.

Chabad House is a 12,000-square-foot synagogue located at North Hollywood Chabad at 13079 Chandler Boulevard, and although the courts have recently ruled against the project, construction has continued and the synagogue is near completion.

Residents have argued extensively against the size of the project and it is believed that if the project is to be re-approved, it will be significantly downsized.
