Here are the major news stories in Sherman Oaks this past week.

The grocery workers union, which held two major demonstrations at Ralphs Market in Sherman Oaks, reached agreement with the three supermarkets, Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons, in negotiations for a new contract. Union members will vote on the contract Friday and Saturday, the results of the vote will be annunced Sunday September 25.

On Tuesday, 32 year old Ana Beltran was found stabbed to death in an alley near the corner of Van Nuys and Victory boulevards.Homicide detectives say the movtive could have been sexual, robbery or simply a case of abuse that got out of control.

Millikan Middle School on Sunnyslope Avenue won a prestigious award for the quality of its math instruction. In addition to the honor of finishing high in a national competition, Millikan will receive $5000 in cash.
