Humphrey Yogart to Celebrate 30 Years of a Beautiful Friendship with Sherman Oaks

Humphrey Yogart is a charming little cafe located at the Gelson's shopping center in Sherman Oaks. The business is about to celebrate its 30-year anniversary in February. Owner Paula Sheftel took the time to answer a few questions about her business. 

Patch: When and how did Humphrey Yogart get started?

Paula Sheftel: Humphrey Yogart has been serving it's unique style of frozen yogurt to the world for nearly 30 years. We discovered our blending machines on a trip to Canada where they were using them to blend ingredients into ice cream. We had the idea of using these machines with frozen yogurt and Humphrey Yogart was born.

Patch: What's your business known for?

Paula Sheftel: Our unique machines custom blend your choice of ingredients into our delicious creamy nonfat chocolate or vanilla bases (either sweet or tart). Thousands of flavor choices are available every time you come in to Humphrey Yogart. We also offer vegan soy, ice cream, organic, and low carb Carbolite and sugar free options for dieters and diabetics. In addition, we offer delicious deli and
panini style sandwiches (low carb and gluten free bread is available), creamy Ice cream and nonfat yogurt shakes, smoothies, ice blended coffee drinks and great coffee and hot chocolate. Half of our store is a market devoted to low carb and other diet foods. We have one of the largest selections of hard to find diet groceries in Los Angeles. From low carb bread and pasta to sugar free donuts, we carry it all. Some of the brands you will find at Humphrey's include Atkins, Walden Farms, ThinSlim, Proti, Julian Bakery, Homestyle chili, Dreamfields Pasta, Arctic Zero, pb 2, Quest, Spring River and many more.

Patch: What's unique about your business?

Paula Sheftel: At Humphrey Yogart we use real, fresh strawberries, raspberries and other natural ingredients to flavor our yogurt instead of artificial flavoring. You choose the base, either our creamy nonfat chocolate or vanilla base or our refreshing tart vanilla base and we blend in your choice of ingredients from our list of over fifty possibilities. Vegan or allergies? No problem. We also feature a soy base. Some of our customer's favorites include espresso heath bar, strawberry banana, chocolate coconut almond and chocolate peanut butter. Patch: What's the best part the neighborhood you are located in?

Paula Sheftel: There is a real sense of community in our heavenly slice of Sherman Oaks. The first thing that one will notice while spending time at Humphrey Yogart is the diversity of age groups and the social diversity of our customers. At any given time you will find young families sitting together with young couples and retired couples and friends schmoozing and enjoying the energy of our establishment. February will be our 30th Anniversary in the same location so come and help us celebrate 30 years of blending-in in Sherman Oaks.

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Paula Sheftel: Bring your friends and family into Humphrey Yogart and try our sweet yogurt blended with espresso and Heath Bar. It is truly out of this world! Another great choice would be our Cafe Humphrey, a delicious blend of Heath Bar Yogart topped with a shot of real espresso, roasted almonds and whipped cream.
