Woman Identified in Fatal 405 Crash

The coroner Monday released the name of a woman killed when her sport utility vehicle rolled down an embankment off the San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys.

She was Solvieg Alana Wernersson, 47, of Van Nuys, coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said. The crash on the southbound 405 at Sherman Way was reported at 5:53 p.m. Sunday, according to CHP Officer S. Ogawa.

"For an unknown reason, (the woman) made an unsafe turning movement toward the right,'' Ogawa said. Her vehicle "traveled toward the right and left the main travel portion of the roadway,'' Ogawa said.

"It overturned and came to rest on the dirt embankment which separates the freeway from the offramp.'' The driver suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident, Ogawa said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
