Police Torch Relay Benefits Special Olympics.

Traffic stopped briefly as police officers holding a torch for the Special Olympics ran down Ventura Boulevard.

Traffic on Ventura Boulevard at 4:30p.m. Tuesday was halted to allow a large cluster of police officers to run down the center of the street as part of a torch relay to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Many of the runners were senior lead officers who work in Sherman Oaks, so they were familiar with the route.

The group led by Senior Lead Officer George Aguilar started the run at Coldwater Canyon and it went to the 405 Freeway where another police unit took up the relay.
