Why Go: There’s always a great selection of produce, fresh flowers and food to choose from. It's also a block from the Galleria, where you can catch a movie in a nice, air-conditioned theater.

Carmageddon Specials
Where/When: Valley Inn Restaurant, 4557 Sherman Oaks Ave., Sherman Oaks; all weekend.
Why Go: Due to the closure of the 405 freeway, the Valley Inn is featuring specials such as the $4.05 Madness Drink Specials and the $4.05 Side Detour Specials all weekend long. Enjoy a "Freeway on the Rocks" and some great sliders to ease the stress.

Kids Club: Wonderworld Puppets
Where/When: Sherman Oaks Galleria, 15301-15303 Ventura Blvd.; 11-11:30 a.m.
Why Go: From now until Aug. 13, Kids Club will have free shows for children as well as drawings for prizes from Galleria merchants on Saturday mornings.

Arts and Crafts
Where/When: Playtown, Westfield Fashion Square, 14006 Riverside Dr.; 12-2 p.m.
Why Go: A great way to stay cool, and the kids will have a fun time with arts and crafts.

Where/When: Coda Bar, 5248 Van Nuys Blvd., Sherman Oaks; 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Why Go: Along with late-night happy hour, Coda Bar will be featuring three special drinks in honor of the 405 shutdown this weekend: the Carmageddon, the Carmarita and the Carpool. There will also be DJs spinning music, so relax, have a themed drink, and have a good time.
