In celebration of Star Wars Day, My Valley Pass is thrilled to present Star Wars: A New Hope as part of our ongoing film series Movies On Location. Throughout this exciting series, we screen films at their actual filming locations, or at settings that go hand-in-hand with these specially curated movies. The series features state of the art projection and sound.
This May the 4th, join us in Van Nuys as we screen Star Wars: A New Hope in the parking lot of Neiman &amp; Company, formerly the original location of Industrial Light &amp; Magic where all of the visual effects for Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) were produced.
We'll be leading building tours of the former ILM facility all day long! You have the option to purchase combo tour/movie tickets or just tour tickets. Please see the ticket options page for more information.
We're also thrilled that renowned Academy Award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor and Producer Richard Edlund will be joining us, schedule permitting, to help introduce the movie. Mr. Edlund is a veteran of the original ILM team that brought the world the iconic effects for Star Wars. Over his 40-year career, he has created the visual effects for some of Hollywood's biggest and most-loved films including Ghostbusters, Poltergeist, and Die Hard just to name a few. Along with an Oscar won for the first Star Wars film, on which he worked as the lead cameraman for the miniature and optical effects unit, Mr. Edlund has also taken home Academy Awards for Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Along with a number of other nominations, he has also been awarded three Scientific and Technical Achievement Oscars for his innovations and contributions to the art of filmmaking and the field of visual effects.

<h2>We'll move on to our mats for a relaxing 20 min goat yoga class for all levels. Our little goats can't wait to jump on your back, help you deepen stretches, and test your balance. You might even get a baby goat massage.</h2>

<h2>SOUND BATH:</h2>
<h2>Then it's time for a soothing 20 min sound bath. You'll get to pet the goats as they come by. The goats might even snuggle you while you relax down with the sounds of crystal and tibetan singing bowls, chimes, hapi drum and crystal harp.</h2>

<h2>This is about bringing more joy and laughter into your life, and taking guidance from the goats to connect to our sense of play, curiousity and being present in the moment. </h2>

Calling on Valley residents to get prepared, a coalition of more than 20 local emergency response and healthcare organizations will be conducting a disaster response drill in Encino Park on Saturday, May 18th from 8 a.m. to noon.
“Thirty years ago, a 6.7 Richter scale earthquake devastated parts of the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles, killing more than 70 victims and injuring over 9,000 people,” said Susan DuBrin, Sherman Oaks/Encino Chamber of Commerce Disaster Preparedness Committee co-chair. “Buildings were damaged from Santa Clarita to Anaheim, leveling entire blocks in Northridge, Santa Monica and Hollywood. A part of the Interstate 10 freeway collapsed and so did some of the Interstate 5 and 14 at Newhall Pass. With damage estimated at more than $20 billion dollars, it was the costliest natural disaster in the nation’s history. In short, we need to be prepared and that starts with citizen training.”
DuBrin said organizers are seeking volunteers from the community to serve as mock victims and responders.
Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) Captain and Disaster Preparedness Officer Rico Gross said NOAA emergency radios, a $40.00 value, and shake &amp; strobe light smoke detectors will be available for free to attendees. The radios feature NOAA channels for quake, flood, tornado, thunderstorm warnings as well as a 90-decibel siren, voice alert, flashing LED warning system, built-in clock and cell charger port.
“We will be providing certification for community service hours,” DuBrin confirmed. DuBrin said those interested in volunteering can register at <a href="https://shorturl.at/kmtM6" title="https://shorturl.at/kmtM6" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://shorturl.at/kmtM6</a>. “Click on the ‘Tickets’ button,” she explained. “It will ask you to indicate on the online registration form whether you want to participate as a mock victim which means you will be dressed or made-up as an injured victim or as a “first responder” in which case you will receive disaster preparedness training.”
“There will also be agencies and services on hand to provide information and free materials. It’s a great opportunity to observe, learn and collect useful items,” said Sherman Oaks/Encino Chamber CEO Vickie Bourdas Martinez. “The Chamber has been a longtime sponsor of disaster preparedness drills as this kind of training benefits our entire community.”
According to Encino Neighbor Council board member Pat Bates, the drill is sponsored by the Sherman Oaks/Encino Chamber of Commerce, Encino Neighborhood Council and City Council Member Nithya Raman’s office. Participating agencies include the Los Angeles City and County Fire Departments, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, LAFD Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Sherman Oaks Hospital, Encino Hospital &amp; Medical Center, Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center and LA Recreation &amp; Parks Department.
“Educating the community on disaster preparedness and conducting training drills is crucial so that hospitals are not saturated during a crisis event,” said Andrew Ward, Emergency Preparedness manager for Providence Saint Joseph, Holy Cross, and Cedars Sinai Tarzana. “As part of the LA County Disaster Resource Center Program, we drill with neighboring hospitals, public safety agencies and participate in community events such as this.”
“The drill provides an excellent opportunity to practice together how to protect ourselves, our families and loved ones, potentially save lives and prevent disasters from becoming catastrophic,” said LAFD Captain Gross. Gross serves in the LAFD’s Homeland Security Division as a liaison to partner agencies and oversees LAFD’s CERT program.
“This is a practice drill, but we will be striving for realistic conditions,” said DuBrin. ”We are telling nearby residents not to be alarmed if they see pretend victims or life-like training for emergency services taking place.”
Residents neighboring Encino Park, bordered by Ventura Boulevard and Genesta, Addison and Paso Robles Avenues, will be alerted via flyers to drill activities so as not to be startled. Planners advise that there will be no public parking on Paso Robles Avenues from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. but streets bordering the park will be open to traffic. 

“Disaster preparedness is a top priority for my office as many parts of Council District 4 are uniquely vulnerable to the increasing dangers created by climate change," said Council District 4 Councilmember Nithya Raman, whose district spans from the flats to the hillsides and the valleys. "While we can't predict when the next natural disaster might occur, we can be prepared by taking action now to safeguard our homes and families. We are proud to help fund this emergency preparedness drill and urge residents to join and gain critical tools to help protect you and your neighbors if and when a disaster takes place."
