If anyone has a follow-up please post it here! Police generally don't release info to press aboutRead More juveniles, but I'm sure that an administrator or someone else in the know is reading this!

These statistics, while moving in the right directiont, are hardly anything to get too excitedRead More about. So much more needs to be done at the secondary & high school levels to manifest higher retention rates.

think it is great that Kate Uptown cannot attend the prom. While the teenager action is cute, theRead More reality remains that he's a teenager and he should go to the prom with someone his own age. Kate is a 20 year old, and she does not need to involve herself with a minor. Whoever her manager maybe, they have given her some great advise. What does she really know about the teenager and lets suppose she offered him a innocent kiss on prom night.....Can you imagine how this story maybe twisted. 17 year old and an adult....If he was 18 year old then you would not have to worry about that issue but its one that must be mentioned.

Mrs. Antoine again dismissed the actions as juvenile behavior and also said that my son brought theRead More harassment on himself because is was popular and confident and well-liked. She said that the boys who were harassing him resented him and had figured out that attacking his faith was how they could get to him. I asked to see a copy of the school's policy on harassment and Mr. Rosenbaum laughed at me and said that he couldn't possibly make time to find it for me. He was quite annoyed that he was called into this meeting in the first place and spent most of his time rolling his eyes and checking his watch. Mrs. Antoine also made the comment "I bet you wish you hadn't taught your son karate now". We were frustrated with the lack of concern and dismissal of the harassment and immediately removed our son from the school.

I have a daughter who graduated from Viewpoint and a son who was thriving there until we removed himRead More from the school at the end of his 5th grade year. My son was continually being harassed and threatened for his Christian faith. I spoke to the head of the Lower School, Claudia Antoine, who dismissed my concerns as "boys being boys". The harassment continued to the point where my son, a black belt in karate then, was worried that if he had to fight back he might hurt someone. He was being cornered in the boys bathroom and he told me that the boys, claiming to be members of "Satan's Army", were saying they were going to kill him. The fact that things had escalated and my concern for my son getting into an actual physical confrontation caused me to again take my concerns to Mrs. Antoine. I also asked to meet with the head of the school, Dr. Dworkoski. Mrs. Antoine and Mr. Paul Rosenbaum (Dr. Dwokoski couldn't make time to meet with us and sent Paul instead) met with me and my husband. ....See continued in next post....

Viewpoint should take a look at their anti bullying policies At Once.. or end up like Palo Alto.Read More http://www.paloaltoonline.com/news/show_story.php?id=28540

Very well put, Sheri. John -- not so much. Your kids know you are stealing. You are telling themRead More "anything goes," and more than likely they will emulate you as children and then as adults. If your elementary school is lacking, do something about it. Volunteer. Hold fundraisers. Organize other parents to help. Work with the PTA and teachers. Do SOMETHING! Put something back and just don't TAKE in your child's name. Show your child you care by doing something positive. Make the effort.

Have you considered that you are teaching your children it's fine to cheat to get what you want byRead More your example? And now that this is such big news at Carpenter, do you realize how embarrassed your children will be if another child or parent calls you and them out on this fraud? Don't they have play dates and sleepovers? You are engaged in a fraudulent activity and you are using any means to justify your behavior. Gas prices are a little high right now. Is it your opinion that it's okay to steal a few gallons? I am glad I don't have parents like you. Honesty and integrity will get one much further in life than what you are doing. You are the reason Carpenter is overcrowded and are hurting your own children as well as many others by your actions.

We live just outside of Carpenter boundaries. We are the parents that are "committingRead More fraud" to get admitted. We don't feel bad about it. Not even a little bit. I'll tell you why. The zip code we live in has 20% Hispanic population. The school we would send our child based on our home address is 80% Hispanic. What happened there? I don't think my child could learn effectively in this environment. I will do whatever it takes to get my kid the best education available. Because of illegal immigration problem I have to either send my kid to private school and pay $26,000 per year in tuition at Campbell Hall or $30,000 at Buckley or cheat my way in to Carpenter. I am all for the LEGAL immigration. The country plans how much resources it needs to support new people coming in. When unknown number of people flooding in to the country - the resource get split into smaller portions. So your child gets smaller and smaller piece of the pie. Think who you voting for at next election!

I see I have no response. And I'll bet the majority of people would respond "ofRead More course"..... Sorry folks, to the first airport in Oregon ( Medford,35 miles over the Northern border) , and flight time to San Diego (Southern border) from SF are nearly identical. WTH! Congratulations Bay Area...you are in Central California....Teachers need to teach and be allowed to do so.

Like I said, proves my point most definately, and Mrs. Java had a burning comment but couldn'tRead More disclose herself-Patch staff are Trolls and proven. I rest my case! Psst, change is coming, that's fine, that's only cause you mean emails will be matched and confirmed with thd person, you know Mrs. Java, like you did - post a comment, "First Name, email, and password-thank you for joint Patch :) ha ha, so easy. That would be better, but it seems you cant afford it yet! Ohh wait, trouble, if trouble is what you're trying to get us into, can we include you Mrs. Java for your Trollness ... I think you should. Common there's nothing wrong with being fair. Let's keep that in mind for the "change" woooo hooo, little baby cry.

There is no reason for Commuity Members such as myself to attend this meeting at Carpenter toRead More pretend we are a team with the school. This is again Principal Martinez covering up his inability to run the school and handle the parents. LAUSD needs to step in. We have asked as neighbors to be included in traffic, saftey and other issues....why now should be put on a show to show him support. Carpenter needs to be a Community School again and not a School swallowing the community. Finally the yell by residents is in the media about our property values and losing value due the mismanagement of Carpenter. Maybe the charter was a good thought but not at a school where favors are bought and sold and traded and favoritism runs rampid. We appreiocate all LAUSD can do for the community but please do not be fooled by the best politican Studio City has ever seen.

Glad you enjoyed it. There is one factual error: Luigi is 48 W. 68th Street. NOT 48th Street.Read More Also it could be more explicit that Hama, early 80s, was a main protege of Luigi, now 87. A recent Dance Magazine tribute of many pages traces Luigi's enormous influence in the world of jazz dance as one of its fathers/founders.
Erik Anderson February 10, 2013 at 05:03 pm
I don't know anything about dance, but it's a pleasure to read something by someone who does.
