As a native of the Chicago suburbs and frequent reader of the Sun-Times, Roger Ebert has a specialRead More place in my heart. He was ever inspiring in his last years especially. Great piece, Mike.

Thank you Mike Szymanski for chronicling our journey and showcasing the benefits of this road lessRead More traveled. It's not until this road is opened by the trail blazers, do they start to join our journey. If we only affect one home and one family, we haven't completed our voyage.

think it is great that Kate Uptown cannot attend the prom. While the teenager action is cute, theRead More reality remains that he's a teenager and he should go to the prom with someone his own age. Kate is a 20 year old, and she does not need to involve herself with a minor. Whoever her manager maybe, they have given her some great advise. What does she really know about the teenager and lets suppose she offered him a innocent kiss on prom night.....Can you imagine how this story maybe twisted. 17 year old and an adult....If he was 18 year old then you would not have to worry about that issue but its one that must be mentioned.

Just another example of ignorant, money-driven people disregarding the needs of animals. It's theRead More mentality that we have dominion over animals because we're the superior (!!!?) species. This is why we feel free to abuse them, cruelly slaughter them for food, skin them for leather goods and use them in unspeakable experiments all in the name of science. You would think that we would be more highly evolved by now.

Rhoda Morgenstern was my role model at a time I needed to be stronger and spunkier than ever. I evenRead More wore a head scrarf tied on the side, her trademark and although I have no resemblance to Valerie, people called me Rhoda... I hope that Valerie's attitude defies this terrible disease and allows her to be around for a long, long time.

What happened to Cardinal Mahony’s helicopter at Van Nuys airport? ARCHBISHOP PILOTSRead More HELICOPTER, SAYS GIFT WON'T COST CHURCH ANYTHING JOHN ANTCZAK , Associated Press AP NEWS ARCHIVE Feb. 28, 1989 9:47 PM ET LOS ANGELES (AP) _ He's known as the flying archbishop, but Roger Mahony insists his new helicopter is a way to take on the city's nagging traffic problem, not a takeoff of the 1960s television series ''The Flying Nun.'' ''It's part of the Southern California scene now. Traffic is really a problem,'' said the archbishop, who demonstrated the $400,000 gift Tuesday with a spin over parts of the 8,762-square-mile Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Mahony, 53, who has a helicopter pilot's license and about 140 hours flying time, flew the blue-striped, turbine-powered McDonnell Douglas 500-D around Van Nuys Airport for about 15 minutes after a news conference.

@MrStudioCity I am thrilled for Ben Affleck. ARGO and Life of Pi both won big. For the Academy toRead More snub Affleck as Director was insulting. I think Steven Spielberg spent lots of money promoting Lincoln but instead of teaching us history he should stick to creating original works of art. The Oscarcast was long, but it always is. We should be very proud of George Clooney who co-produced ARGO. Hometown Boy Makes Good, Again! Clooney and Affleck done good!
