Rescue Pet of the Week: Harrison the Pit Bull Mix

You can meet Harrison at the East Valley Animal Care and Control Center in Van Nuys.

Harrison is a 1-year-old, neutered male pit bull mix. He weighs around 60 pounds and has a gorgeous face with one blue eye and one brown.

Harrison was surrendered to the shelter on New Year's Day, and he was initially very timid and shy but never aggressive. With patience, he has come out of his shell and is great with all people, although it sometimes takes him a minute to warm up to strangers. Harrison is quite docile and calm, especially for his age. He is quite content to sit quietly by your feet, but if you invite him to, he will also jump up and plant a big kiss on your face.

He appears to be housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash and knows some basic commands. Although it is difficult to gauge for certain in a shelter environment, he appears to be quite friendly with other dogs, both large and small.

Harrison can be seen at East Valley Animal Care and Control Center. The shelter's address is 14409 Vanowen Street (just East of Van Nuys Blvd.), Van Nuys, CA 91405.

Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The shelter is closed on Mondays. The telephone number is (888) 452-7381.

Any inquiries about Harrison should include his animal ID number, A1445513.
