Heat Wave Grips San Fernando Valley

Temperatures are expected to remain over 100 degrees through the weekend.

After temperatures hit 100 degrees on Tuesday, the heat wave that has enveloped the San Fernando Valley in recent weeks is expected to reach its peak in coming days, as temperatures are expected to remain over 100 through the weekend. 

The National Weather Service released an excessive heat warning on Tuesday, as the temperature reached 100 degrees. The statement reads that a number of areas across Southern California have been put on excessive heat watch, including the western San Fernando Valley. 

According to NWS, Wednesday is expected to see an afternoon high of 103 and a low of 70 in the evening. Thursday and Friday are also expected to see a high of 103, with an evening low of 69.

The NWS statement referred to the heat as "potentially dangerous," and advised residents to stay out of the sun and drink an abundance of fluids.
