Everyone is freaking out over the July 16th to July 18thclosure of the 405 Freeway. This is a good time to consider alternatives to reworking the 50 year old freeway. Tunnels are a dependable alternative to at-grade roads because their cost is comparable. One tunnel could connect Encino with Brentwood and Westwood. Another could connect Sherman Oaks with Beverly Hills and Century City. Instead of cursing the traffic we should be innovative. This is a problem we can dig our way out of.

California legislators are considering taxing internet sales. They say it is to provide tax parity with brick and mortar businesses. Since when has the legislature sought tax fairness and what the %&$* does that mean? Even progressive internet business owners, their employees and customers know California does not have a taxing problem, it has a spending problem. The pols should get a grip and start cutting state programs.
