There is no excuse for Ventura Boulevard to be flooded at Cedros. It is a chronic problem that has a simple solution. Clear the gutters before it rains but that would be too easy. This storm was expected.
It is infuriating to watch street sweepers circling the area in the rain but not clearing the drains because cars are parked too close to the drain or maybe it is because clearing the drains would require the street sweeper driver to get out of his rig.
Businesses lose money because the gutters are so full of water it is slopping over the curbs and no one wants to step into water up to their ankles. Is it time to form brigades of volunteers to clear city storm drains? You tell me.
