Junk is Piling Up on Sherman Oaks' Backstreets

Sherman Oaks Junk, Lamp Posts get Paint, Bridge Detail.

Once again I ask, is it so hard for Sanitation to pick up the mattress that has been kicked like a football from one side of Dickens to the other and back since before Halloween? Almost 3 full months and now there is something new. A couch cast off by another Sherman Oaks refugee now litters the landscape also on Dickens. These two objects and more are between Kester and Cedros. I’m hopeful the City Hall can find the junk using Google maps.

Now you see it now you don’t. I spent a few days over the holidays painting some of the concrete lamp posts along Ventura Blvd. that were in particularly bad shape, a total of 35 between Sepulveda and Van Nuys. It only took a few hours and now the poles have a professional looking paint job. Is it possible for the Sherman Oaks Homeowners and the chamber to get together to do the really hard work of scrubbing all of the paint off of the steel lamp posts and parking meters sometime soon?

If you have been wondering what has been going on with the Balboa Blvd Bridge over the LA River let me tell you. United Chambers of Commerce in conjunction with its member, the Encino Chamber have painted the bridge and added an interesting accent. The yellow touch was added over the holidays to give the bridge more character and visibility. Joggers and bikers who use the bridge have said they like the new look.
