Congressional Candidates Will Debate

Berman, Sherman, Shelley & Reed, candidates for congress debate January 5th.

Why are unemployment benefits in jeapordy? Why are my taxes going up on January 1? Why isn’t the Congress able to solve the problems facing the country? Do you want answers to these questions and more?

On January 5, the public will have an opportunity to hear candidates, including two members of congress try to answer these and other pressing questions facing Valley residents.   

The Town Hall will be held at Westfield Promenade Mall, Warner Center from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the former Dick’s Sporting Goods location  Featured will be the four candidates running to fill the 30th congressional district seat: Representative Brad Sherman (D), Representative Howard Berman (D), Mark Reed (R) and Susan Shelley (R). The race has been intensified by the merger of Sherman’s 27th CD and Berman 28th CD seats following redistricting.

The new congressional district covers the Los Angeles City communities of Sherman Oaks , Studio City, Valley Village, Encino, and Lake Balboa, the western half of Van Nuys, Northridge, Granada Hills, Winnetka, Reseda, Tarzana, West Hills, Canoga Park, Chatsworth and Woodland Hills. It also includes the LA county communities of Calabasas, Hidden Hills and unincorporated sections of the county of bordering Ventura County. The new district encompasses roughly one half of the San Fernando Valley and more than half of the Valley’s population.
