Millikan Middle School and Center for Enriched Studies Losing Title I Funds

School board votes to redirect the aid to schools with more impoverished students.

Millikan Middle School and the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies are among nine Valley schools to lose Title I funding because the school board voted Tuesday to redirect the money to schools with more impoverished students.

Federal Title I money helps pay for things like dropout specialists, counselors and after-school programs.

Board member Tamar Galatzan cast the only dissenting vote as the board stripped Title I funds from Knollwood, Germain, Nestle, Superior, Dearborn and Hamlin Elementary, Nobel Middle School, Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies and Millikan Middle School.
