Local Youth Group Holds Installation

Yesterday, local non-profit youth group San Fernando Assembly #223 held their Installation of Officers.

The assembly is part of a larger organization, the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls; a non-profit 501c3 club for young women who volunteer in their community, learn leadership skills, plan fun events and make friends in a safe environment. These ladies raise about $80,000 a year for charity and give endless hours of their time to community service projects the girls choose themselves. They also make "sisters-for-life" from friends met in the program who accept you for who you are, and together they become better young women who succeed in society.

The Installation was held at Van Nuys Masonic Center on Sherman Way. The incoming Worthy Advisor (President) was Danielle Ward, who chose "You Only Live Once, But If You Do It Right, Once Is Enough" as her theme and decorations were beach and sea decor. Danielle stated, "I picked this theme because when I had originally joined basketball I did not give it any effort. Then I realized I was only hurting myself and gave it my all - and now I am the proud owner of a city-championship ring and will be playing basketball in college!"

Danielle wore a beautiful red prom dress as she was escorted in. There were 7 officers installed and awards were given to each of the girls for the amount of service they had given to the community and their assembly. The Installation concluded with a reception in the dinning hall with sandwiches, snacks and cake.

The Installation kicks off their Summer Term, which the girls have planned many events for. Some highlights include; Monsters University movie day, a Beach Clean-up, serving lunch to homeless at the Midnight Mission, going to a weekend camp and a day at the beach.

Membership is now open to all girls ages 11-20. Applications can be obtained by calling Mrs. Jodie Ranzinger at 818-357-9494. More information about the organization can be found at www.SanFernando223.org or to find more assemblies in California, www.GoCARainbow.org.
