'Pothole Lottery' Coming?

The Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council is scheduled to consider a plan to fill some of the worst potholes in town.

How many potholes are there in Sherman Oaks?

Actually, nobody knows for sure because they've never been counted.

"But you know it when you run over one," said Jill Banks Barad, president of the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council.

Now Barad is fixing to do something about the potholes of Sherman Oaks.

"We're going to take a certain amount of money that we get from the city and we're going to rent a truck and a work crew, and they will go around town filling up the worst potholes in Sherman Oaks," Barad said.

How will she locate the worst potholes in town?

"We're going to hold a pothole lottery," she said, smiling.

What's a pothole lottery?

"We're working on that," said Barad, sipping on a latte at Starbucks in the 14600 block of Ventura Boulevard."

The "pothole lottery" is on the agenda for the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council at its meeting for 6:30 p.m. Monday. 

The meeting will be held at the Sherman Oaks Elementary School auditorium at 14755 Greenleaf St.
