More Freeway Closures This Week

The Skirball Bridge, Mulholland Bridge and northbound I-405 freeway lanes to be affected.

The Skirball Bridge will be closed on Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. to conduct lane re-striping work and the demolition of the center column of the Skirball Bridge.

The work is part of the $1 billion effort to add a carpool lane on the northbound freeway between the Santa Monica (10) and Ventura (101) freeways, along with upgrading freeway ramps and sound walls.

The northbound I-405 freeway lanes will be closed Tuesday night from Getty Center Drive to Ventura Boulevard during the bridge demolition. Some freeway lanes will begin to close as early as 10 p.m. and the Skirball Center Drive ramps may close as early as 7 p.m.

The full northbound directional freeway closure will take place between midnight and 5 a.m., according to Metro, which is coordinating the project.

In addition, the contractor will conduct an investigation of existing utilities located near the Mulholland Bridge starting Monday night. This work activity is expected to last approximately three nights between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The investigation will require lane closures on the north side of the Mulholland Bridge. There will be one lane of traffic open in each direction on the south side of the bridge during the operation.
