Census Figures Say L.A. Growth Has Slowed

Los Angeles is still the most populous county in California.

  The population of Los Angeles County grew by 3.1 percent over the past decade, far slower than other Southern California counties, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released Tuesday.

The county remains the most populous in the state, with about 9.8 million residents, according to the Census Bureau.

The city of Los Angeles has a population of about 3.8 million.

California's overall population rose 10 percent from 33.8 million in 2000 to 37.2 million in 2010, according to the Census Bureau.
