A pedestrian was fatally struck by several vehicles on the eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway early today, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CHP Officer Alex Rubio said there were multiple reports of a pedestrian walking in lanes and on the right shoulder of the freeway before the accident, which occurred around 1:05 a.m. near White Oak Avenue. The victim was struck by at least four vehicles, Rubio said.

Authorities withheld the name of the fatally injured man, who was 33 and from Woodland Hills, pending family notification, said coroner's Chief Craig Harvey.

The eastbound 101 Freeway was closed until about 4:45 a.m., the CHP reported.
