Investment Advisor a Suspect in Smashing Windows in Valley, Beverly Hills

Detectives are investigating whether Michael Steven Poret, 58, of Encino—who worked at UBS Financial Services in Beverly Hills—has alleged ties to dozens of acts of vandalism.

Michael Steven Poret, 58, is suspected of committing around 70 acts of vandalism over the past several months, including smashing the windows of Ventura Boulevard businesses and Beverly Hills homes, the Los Angeles Times reported.

An investment advisor who lives in Encino, Poret works at in Beverly Hills. He has been arrested twice this month, according to the Times:

Poret was first arrested July 3 after a Beverly Hills patrol officer spotted a slingshot in his vehicle during a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. A search of his vehicle revealed brass knuckles, knives and slingshot projectiles.
Poret was arrested again Thursday in an early morning raid on his Encino home, where police discovered firearms, bb guns, slingshots and marbles similar to those used in the window-breakings.

Poret posted bail on both occasions, but has since been placed on administrative leave by his employer, the Times reported. Charges against Poret have yet to be filed. Authorities are investigating his possible connection to several other vandalism reports in Van Nuys and Topanga Canyon, according to the Times.
