Violent Crimes Up Significantly

The week's rate of 5.2 crimes per 10,000 people is higher than in nearby Van Nuys, and lower than Studio City and Encino.

During that period, there was one aggravated assaut, two robberies, and a grand theft auto reported, according to the LAPD reports.

There were 4 violent crimes and 30 property crimes that week, compared to an average of 1.9 violent crimes and 33.2 property crimes per week over the last three months.

The population of Sherman Oaks is estimated to be slightly more than 65,000 residents, according to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
