The incident occurs on the 6700 block of Noble Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

A man confronted by two would-be masked robbers while he walked his dog in Van Nuys tonight fired shots at the suspects, who ran off, police said.

The victim said he was walking his dog near his home in the 6700 block of Noble Avenue, near Vanowen Street, around 9:15 p.m. Thursday when he was confronted outside his house by two men wearing ski masks, said Lt. Abel Parga of the Van Nuys Station.

It was unclear if the man was already armed at the time or somehow armed himself after being confronted, but he fired shots at the suspects, who ran off, Parga said.
