UPDATE: Tree Falls Near Millikan Middle School, Power Lines Fixed

The Los Angeles Fire Department said no injuries were reported.

A tree branch fell down at 5041 Sunnyslope Ave. in Van Nuys causing some power lines to fall in front of Millikan Middle School, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

According to Austin Gebhardt, of Austin Photography, a freelance photographer who shoots pictures for the LAFD, the branch fell and hit a bus and a car and some power lines came down.

There are no injuries reported and no one in jeopardy at this time, officials said.

By Wednesday evening, powerlines and any danger was fixed by city utility officials. There should be no problem with school traffic on Thursday morning.

The LAFD Twitter notice issued after school let out reads: "Possible tree fell over causing power lines to fall in front of millikanmiddleschool.org"

This was a dangerous situation, especially after two women were electrocuted trying to help a man when power lines came down in North Hollywood last year.
