Rash of Burglaries South of Ventura

Three recent burglaries have targeted homes in upscale area where residents have lost jewelry, cash, and electronics.

In the past week, there have been three burglaries in the area south of Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, according to detectives at the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division.

Police say the area where the crimes occured is west of Beverly Glen, east of the San Diego Freeway and north of Valley Vista Boulevard.

"The suspects have either smashed a rear window or kicked in a rear door to gain entry," said Senior Lead Officer Ron Carter, of the LAPD.

"The burglars target jewelry, cash, laptops, and electronics," added Carter.

Several of the victims had alarms but failed to set them prior to leaving their homes, according to detectives.

"Had these homeowners set their alarms, the suspects may have fled prior to taking any property," said Carter.

Burglary detectives are reminding residents to close and lock all windows and doors before leaving their homes.

"Make sure to keep your garages closed at all times," added Carter.

Police say there have been no suspects seen at these three latest burglaries.
