Police Blotter: Burglaries, Thefts, Stolen Cars

The most common crimes committed in Sherman Oaks last week were thefts, and burglaries according to the Los Angeles Times.

In the seven days between February 19 and 25, crime reports involving property loss and violence were about average in Sherman Oaks, according to the Los Angeles Times neighborhood crime report.

The most common crimes were thefts from vehicles and burglaries.There was one aggravated assault.

Over the past three months, Sherman Oaks averaged 2 violent crimes and 34.5 property crimes per week. During this most recent period, there were 2 violent crimes and 31 property crimes reported, according to the Los Angeles Times figures which are derived from police reports from the Los Angeles Police Department.

This week's rate of 5.0 crimes per 10,000 people is higher than nearby Studio City, Encino, and Van Nuys.

Sherman Oaks population is estimated at slightly more than 65,000 according to the L.A. Department of City Planning.
