Paris Hilton's Boyfriend Attacked Outside Van Nuys Courthouse

Hilton witnesses attack on boyfriend Cy Waits during the noon break in trial of man charged with attempting to break into her home.

Paris Hilton's boyfriend Cy Waits was attacked outside the Van Nuys Courthouse on Wednesday during the noon recess in the trial of a man who is charged with attempting to break into her Sherman Oaks home.

"That's the man who has been following me on a bike!" yelled a shaken Hilton as courthouse security guards wrestled the alleged attacker to the ground.

In the morning session of the trial of Nathan Lee Parada, 31, who has been charged with attempted residential burglary, jury selection was under way when the session ended at noon.

As Hilton and Waits were returning to the courthouse after lunch, a man ran up behind Waits, grabbed him and pulled him to the ground, according to Sherman Oaks Patch reporter Christina Penza, who witnessed the incident.

Courthouse security guards rushed to the scene and took the man into custody. His identity was unknown.

Waits did not appear to be seriously injured, according to Penza. He and Hilton went back into the courthouse, where opening arguments in the trial were scheduled for the afternoon. Hilton is a major witness in the case. She was at home last August when the alleged attempt to break into her house on Mulholland Drive occurred.

Parada has been in County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail since his arrest.

Sherman Oaks Patch has taken photos of the incident, and will be posting them, along with a report on the trial proceedings.
