The fatal shooting of a knife-wielding man by Los Angeles police in Van Nuys was under investigation Sunday.
Police were sent to an address near Saticoy Street and Tobias Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in response to a 911 call about an assault, a lieutenant at the Van Nuys station said.
Arriving officers found a man holding a knife to a woman's throat and eventually shot him, according to reports from the scene. The woman may have suffered cuts to her hands and throat, but was expected to be OK.
Detectives with the Force Investigation Section were assigned to the probe.
The name of the victim was being withheld early today. An autopsy was pending.
