Former L.A. City Councilman Richard Alarcon:…

Mother of a Middle-School Suspect in Anti-Semitic Prank Could Face Charges

Comedian Jon Lovitz comes to the aid of his victimized friend.

Incensed by the on the home of a Northridge friend's middle-school daughter, comedian Jon Lovitz has launched a Twitter assault of his own.

And the mother of one of the suspects might face criminal charges.

In an interview with Kristine Lazar of KCBS2, Lovitz said he posted a photo of the three teen suspects making an obscene gesture to the camera on his Twitter account. The girls have not been publicly identified by police.

The Jewish Journal first reported the dumped feces, and scrawled swastikas and anti-Semitic slurs written in maple syrup at one Northridge home, and the toilet-papering of another house a half-mile away.

Police told Chatsworth Patch that all the girls attend the same Northridge middle school.

KCBS2 said the girls admitted involvement. They have been questioned with their parents by Devonshire Division police. LAPD Capt. Kris Pitcher said the prank did not rise to the level of a hate crime because no permanent damage was done to the properties.

"This is the worst thing you can do -- to terrorize a family -- outside of actually harming them physically," Lovitz said.

KCBS2's Lazar reported that "Investigators are now looking into whether the mother of one of the middle-school girls who admitted to the so-called prank could face criminal charges for driving the girls to the house in the middle of the night."

"What's the difference between what they did and if someone drove their children to an African-American neighborhood and burned a cross on the lawn?" Lovitz asked.

OK, everybody's outraged, as they should be. Where do we prodeed from here? Teenage girls (and their MOM) obviously do not truly understand what those symbols mean, what the Jews in Europe went through during the nazi Occupation and the holocaust, and the assocations those jews have with those symbols.ALL those vacuum brained girls understood was that the symbols have "Shock Value", and wouldn't it be somethin to "Shock" that family. What they REALLY need (among other things) is a good EDUCATION about The Holocaust and everything it entailed. Not a glossed over "Made for TV version" or "A Sanitized, Politically Correct Textbook Version", but the real truth. A trip to the Simon Wiesenthal Center to see the ghastly photgraphs on display there (as well as the stories) AND to sit down face-to face with a real Holocaust Survivor who can tell them what life under the naxi's was REALLY like. To show them the number tatooed on their arms. To tell them of all the dozens of their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, and friends who were brutally beaten, raped, terrorized and slaughtered like animals. Let those girls look into the eyes of a Holocaust Survivor while he/she tells thier tale. That will be a START on what they deserve,

I agree with above. Would be great if the judge sent the mom and girls to the "Museum of Tolerance" all separately with their own parents so they get more impact. The other parents might not have known. Let them learn about the Holocaust as well as other groups of people. Maybe make the mother take parenting classes...helloooo, she drove them late at night to the home. Scary! There are 2 guys who may still work there or volunteered there. One was a victim of a hate crime years ago and one was the perpetrator. They met there years later. Amazing story. Give me a break that it was a joke. Aren't they lucky Jon Lovitz is a friend of the parent? He unknowingly hopefully saved them. Yes Mom of that girl, wake up! They posted a picture of themselves...not smart criminals. Girls you will never make it in Juvenile Hall, THOSE girls will scare the hec out of you. I say this so the parents of these kids take this serious if they haven't. Elsie

The mother who drove those girls should at least be charged with "contributing to the deliquency of a minor" or whatever it's called these days. And what about charging the girls with Vandalism? I'm sure getting maple syrup off of house paint isn't easy. And the homeowners shouldn't have to do it, The girls should have, or paid the parents to hire somebody. If the Police and DA aren't going to do anything, it's not too late to file civil charges for damages
The same kind of hate filled mother who raised a second generation of ignorance and intolerance. Scarey indeed!
