Downed Power Lines, Fallen Trees Add to Emergency Responders' Duties

These are the raw scanner reports from Monday and Tuesday around the San Fernando Valley.

Here are the raw data of reports collected Monday and Tuesday by listening to the police scanner. If there are additional details needed, we'll file full news stories on the items and let you know. (Boldfaced communities are covered by Patch sites.)

Monday Night

9:07 p.m. 10700 block of Woodbridge Street, North Hollywood
Report of assault with a deadly weapon / domestic violence.

9:26 p.m. Densmore Avenue and Stagg Street, Van Nuys
LAFD’s Light Force 90 reports that power lines have fallen into the street. “Several transformers have blown,” and “a power pole is leaning.” They request DWP (Department of Water and Power) and DOT (Department of Transportation) to respond to the scene.

9:31 p.m. Leadwell Street and Densmore Avenue, Van Nuys
LAFD’s Light Force 90 reports more downed power lines on Densmore Avenue.

9:32 p.m. Magnolia Street and Tujunga Avenue, North Hollywood
Report of a robbery at North Hollywood Park. The robbers are described as two Filipino males, 16 years old and 27 years old, last seen fleeing on Chandler Boulevard, past Tujunga Avenue.

9:39 p.m. 18700 block of Ventura Boulevard, Tarzana
LAPD West Valley units are called to respond to an automatic burglar alarm “at Relax the Back,” a furniture store.

9:40 p.m. A street in San Fernando Valley
LAFD responds to an “unconscious person” call. After arriving on the scene, they determine that it is “only a man sleeping in his car.”

9:46 p.m. 6300 block of Variel Avenue, Woodland Hills
A caller who reported a “battery / domestic violence” has called back and “attempted to cancel” the police response, because the battery suspect “has just left the location.” LAPD dispatcher informs that due to the nature of the call, “it’s not possible (to cancel).”

9:47 p.m. Sherman Way and Variel Avenue, Canoga Park
Report of attempted armed robbery, using “bodily force.” (This location is five blocks from the call one minute earlier.)

9:50 p.m. 5600 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, North Hollywood
LAPD is called. Report of a “roommate dispute.”

9:50 p.m. 4200 block of Whitsett Avenue, Studio City
LAPD is called. Report of a person trespassing on caller’s property.

10:17 p.m. 9300 block of Corbin Avenue, Northridge
LAFD’s Engine 70 has come across a fallen tree blocking the southbound lanes of Corbin Avenue. They request (Bureau of) Street Maintenance and DOT to secure the location.

10:18 p.m. Milwood Avenue and Bassett Street, Canoga Park
Another LAFD unit has responded to the scene of a fallen tree blocking the intersection. No electrical wires are down, but Street Maintenance is requested.

10:19 p.m. 10700 block of Tampa Avenue, Porter Ranch
LAFD’s Engine 107 has responded on the scene to an emergency call and finds nothing. After calling back the contact number that was provided, it is determined to be a “false call” (a hoax).

11 p.m. 7600 block of Kester Avenue, Van Nuys
Report of a “459 / hot prowl in progress“ (a burglary occurring while occupants are on-site). The woman calling says that her husband has seen an unknown person in their bedroom.

11:05 p.m. 5300 block of Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood
Police have responded to a burglar alarm at Big Lots. The store manager has been called and is on the way.

11:30 p.m. 16300 block of Mandalay Drive, Encino
A very large tree has fallen into the street and pulled down high-voltage power lines, disrupting electricity to several residents. LAFD is on the scene and they are requesting DOT and the DWP to secure the safety of the location.

11:37 p.m. 10900 block of Ventura Boulevard, Studio City
Report of “code 30 ringer” (burglar alarm for police response) at a commercial business. Police units are to advised to respond “code 5” (a stake-out situation; police will attempt to catch the burglars in the act).

Tuesday morning

2:30 a.m. 6600 block of Hazeltine Avenue, Van Nuys
Report of assault with a deadly weapon / domestic violence.

2:43 a.m. 6000 block of Riverton Avenue, North Hollywood
A call to police of “shots heard.” Four to five shots are reportedly heard possibly coming from Denny Avenue.

2:45 a.m. 5600 block of Gentry Avenue, North Hollywood
LAPD patrol units are called to respond “code 3” (with lights and sirens) to a report of a “screaming woman” in the apartment complex.

3 a.m. 101 Freeway and Winnetka Avenue, Tarzana
911 call to LAFD, a “roll-over” traffic accident is on the freeway .

3 a.m. 1000 El Dorado Avenue, San Fernando
Report of attempted suicide. LAPD and a rescue ambulance are requested to respond.
