Los Angeles firefighters Sunday doused an apartment building blaze in Sherman Oaks in which no one was harmed, a city fire official said.
It was reported at 3:26 p.m. in the 4300 block of Ventura Canyon Avenue, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Rescuers arriving at the location reported flames in the kitchen area of an upstairs unit in the two-story building, Humphrey said.
With 27 firefighters on the scene, the blaze was under control in less than 20 minutes, Humphrey said.
Fire officials were able to hold the fire mostly to the kitchen area in
the 55-year-old building, which did not have fire sprinklers, Humphrey said.
