A suspect in the shooting of a woman in a room at the in Studio City was found late in the afternoon in Canoga Park with his two children. Police said the two children were fine.
Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section said that suspect Michael Green, 27, surrendered at 4:40 p.m. at a location in the 21700 block of Hart Street, near Owensmouth Avenue. Joseph did not know if that was Green's residence, but Green gave up without incident.
LAPD also said that the children, 21-month-old daughter Maaliyah and 6-month-old son Zyler, appeared to be OK. The mother is still listed as stable.
The shooting was reported at 4:50 a.m. at the hotel in the 12800 block of Ventura Boulevard, near Coldwater Canyon Avenue, Sgt. Glen McNeil of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was "in and out of consciousness" when she was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, McNeil said. She was listed in critical but stable condition, LAPD Officer Wendy Reyes of the Media Relations Office said.
Joseph said the woman was shot in the upper torso but would not elaborate. According to broadcast reports, she suffered a neck wound. The woman called 911 to report that she had been shot, Reyes said.
Monday afternoon things were quiet at the Sportsmen's Lodge except for a few TV crews. There was no damage to the rooms or danger to other guests. Otherwise, everything was back to normal.
