Burbank

A burglar broke into a gun shop in Burbank May 25 and may have stolen at least one weapon.

The burglary occurred around 4:40 a.m. at Gun World, in the 2400 block of West Magnolia Boulevard, near North Buena Vista Street, said Officer Joshua Kendrick of the Burbank Police Department.

"When officers arrived, they were able to confirm that entry had been made into the business through the roof," Kendrick said in a statement.

A SWAT team responded to the location and searched, but did not find a suspect inside, Kendrick said.

"It appears that there are weapons missing from a display case," Kendrick said. "It is unknown, at this time, what items were stolen or the total loss."

Police urged anyone who may have seen any suspicious person or activity in the area to contact the Burbank Police Department at (818) 238-3000.

Lake View Terrace

A horse got stuck in mud Sunday in Lake View Terrace, prompting a carefully coordinated rescue, a city fire official said.

The incident was reported at 5 p.m. at 11798 W. Foothill Blvd., near Hansen Dam Aquatic Center, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The horse was in water, with about half of its body covered, with three legs stuck in sand or mud, Scott said. (.)

A helicopter hoist operation was anticipated, with 35 firefighters working from ground and air to rescue the animal, Scott said.

About 10 firefighters worked to keep the horse's head above water during the rescue operation, and a specialized team was expected to tranquilize the horse while firefighters brought it to safety.
