The house was put out quickly.

Downed wires ignited the eaves of a home at 6555 Greenbush Ave. in Van Nuys on Monday night.

The fire, which was reported at 7:40 p.m., was knocked down with no extension into the house itself, says Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The temperature reached 103 in Van Nuys, Woodland Hills and Burbank, where it tied the record for this date set in 1976, 101 in Northridge and Saugus.
