Commercial Building in Van Nuys near 405 Freeway Damaged by Fire

A commercial building in Van Nuys was slightly damaged by a rapidly contained tree and brush fire alongside the northbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway Friday.

The fire was first reported near the Burbank Boulevard onramp to the 405 around 12:40 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said.

Cyrus Enriquez, an employee at the nearby Hampton Inn and Suites in the 5600 block of Sepulveda, said the only evident structural damage from the fire was slight burning to the rear of a commercial building on the west side of the street.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
