Car Crashes and Catches on Fire

A motorist drove a vehicle down an embankment Sunday on the Ventura (101) Freeway at the San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks, prompting the vehicle to roll over and catch fire, a Los Angeles Fire Department official said.

The crash was reported at 5:56 p.m. on the eastbound 101 at the 405, LAFD spokesman Erik Scott said.

One male occupant was evaluated at the scene, but was not taken to a hospital, according to Scott.

The cause of the crash was unknown.
