Russell Armstrong's lawyer, Ronald Richards, told TMZ that his client had "tremendous financial problems" and was "extremely bummed out" about his pending divorce. Armstrong, who'd moved out of the family home months ago when it was clear he and his wife were splitting up, had been staying at a friend's place.

Armstrong's wife, reality show star Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce on July 15 after six years of marriage, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Times reports that 40 year old Taylor Armstrong, who also appeared on the show, "had been up all night and was hysterical over Russell's death."

The divorce filing by Ms. Armstrong alleged that her husband had been physcially and verbally abusive for years.
